Why we make our products in Jaipur
Here at Miss Pompom, we are dedicated to a sustainable approach to fashion production. Our items are handcrafted in Jaipur, India - a city renowned for its rich cultural heritage, magnificence and increasing efforts to become more environmentally friendly. Jaipur is also known for its unique textile production, crafts and block printing.
Jaipur’s Culture
Jaipur was the first planned city in India. Nicknamed the “Pink City”, Jaipur is famous for its pink-painted sandstone buildings, elegant palaces, and breathtaking architecture. The city is rich with tradition, including the Kathputli Dance (Puppet Dance), Diwali, Dussehra, Ganesh festivals, and more. Jaipur’s flamboyance is reflected in its unique textiles and handcrafted items that are publicly displayed throughout the city. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has recognised Jaipur City as a world heritage site and creative city that showcases ancient Hindu, early Mughal and Western cultures.
Green Movement
In recent years, Jaipur has enhanced its strategies to become more sustainable and environmentally friendly. By designing and implementing more population-dense buildings, reducing private vehicle usage, improving walkability, encouraging public transport, introducing green roofs, natural drainage systems and the expansion of green spaces, Jaipur anticipates significant progress in the coming years. These efforts to contain urban sprawl, improve population density, promote sustainable water management, protect natural ecosystems and reduce greenhouse gas emissions are preparing Jaipur for the inevitable challenges of climate change and population growth.
