We are always looking for ways to make our designs stand out from a crowd, we aren’t shy to be the brightest in the room and we want to be fun, playful and bold in whatever way we can. What better way to do that than taking inspiration from the Memphis movement.

The Memphis movement was a post-modernist design, beginning in Milan in the 1980’s by Ettore Sottsass. The intention was to create bold, colourful, playful designs that rejected conventions of the time. We love this idea of breaking tradition and coming up with new ways to beat the status quo! These were typically made up of geometric patterns, squares, circles, similar to the break out style in the pop scene at the time. This Italian design continued to be loud, eccentric and bizarre, even a little misunderstood. Memphis blends Art Deco with Pop Art and it is making a comeback. Anti-Minimalism, the aim is to go against the crowd.

Speaking of which, we have some gorgeous pieces from our collection at Miss PomPom featuring this Memphis design. Our Triangles scarves which are artistic, warm and full of personality or our Extra Large Memphis Scarves are so cute for the colder weather.

Bold, bright, and full of fun too, the Memphis Wool Scarf celebrates the iconic Memphis design movement with graphic black lines, red circles, and blocks of yellow, pink, green, and blue. A true statement piece that brings artful colour to winter dressing. Made from a soft wool blend for warmth, comfort, and durability. Generously sized for wrapping or layering with ease.

Our wool blend bobble hats and beanies offer bold shapes and graphic patterns. Add geometry to your winter look with the Memphis Wool Bobble Hat. A white base with black grid lines meets cobalt, lilac, and emerald accents for a playful, design-led finish inspired by the Memphis Design movement. Crafted from a cosy wool blend, it’s warm, soft, and full of personality. Pair with the matching Memphis Scarf or wear solo for a striking statement. Designed in London and ethically knitted in Istanbul.
